Photographer Lisa VanHecke was born and raised in the Midwest and at 18 years old she moved to Phoenix, AZ and worked in front of the camera and then behind it as a hair/makeup artist for almost 2 decades. She then shifted her attention to shooting stills, focusing mostly on her passion, portraiture. Her uncanny ability to dig deep into the soul of her subjects is evident in her work. She is especially adept at working with children, and capturing her signature, sometimes haunting, but always completely riveting images in her projects. A certain sense of timelessness accompanies her art, and allows the viewer to experience a number of emotions, as opposed to portraying a singular mood. Lisa is also an accomplished martial artist, holding a Black Belt in Taekwondo, having competed and winning Gold Medals at a National level. She and her family make their home here in Chatsworth, CA.
